In Nursery at church they were singing this song and when they had gone through all the verses Anya kept repeating "Dada! Dada!" The Nursery Leader asked her what the Dada's said and she told her "Bear Down." The other kids all sing this now too so if you visit our ward nursery, be prepared to see a room full of wildcat fans! (Her dad is so proud!)

The Daddies on the Bus
I am very much aware how neglected this blog has been. Anytime I think of a post I think I need to catch up on previous events, which I don't want to do, so then I don't post at all. Well, it is Saturday night and I am continuing to procrastinate my singing time plans for tomorrow so I thought I would post this cute story. Anya has several favorite songs she frequently requests. "Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree," "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" (with additional verses we learned at story time at the library), "You are my Sunshine," and "The Wheels on the Bus" are the current top requests. When we started singing "The Wheels on the Bus" frequently she became very concerned that there weren't Daddies, Grandmas or Papas on the bus. She would say their name over and over until I would make up their own verse. If you come sing this song at our house, be prepared: the Anya's on the bus say "Yeah, okay" (one of her most common phrases), the Grandmas on the bus say "I love you" and the Papas on the bus say "tickle, tickle, tickle." Now what about the Dadas? They say "Bear Down!" of course!

Highlights
My friend Stephanie, from our ward, does my hair. She does it out of her house and is fabulous. I went to get my hair done and when we were done with my color there was some bleach left. Steph does little highlights in her daughters' hair every so often so she called in her youngest and did some foils. There was still some dye left so she asked if she could do a foil in Anya's hair. Now, would I go out and pay to get her hair done (other than trimmed)? Absolutely not. Do I plan on doing this all the time? No way. However, I don't think one time hurts anything so I said "why not?" She did one little foil in Anya's bangs and I have to say, it looks dang cute.

Friday Funnies - Bad Hair Day
This is how Anya woke up from her nap on 8/27. No, she didn't go to sleep with wet hair. I have no idea how this happened, although with the way this kid sleeps I guess I shouldn't be surprised!

Yeah, if I had hair like that I'd be crying too!

There's a bobcat in our backyard!
At the end of July, my sister Shannon moved in with us. She graduated from CDO in May and wanted to move out but didn't have the money to get an apartment. We happened to need someone to watch Anya in the mornings while I'm at work and had an extra bedroom. So in exchange for rent, Shannon plays Nanny in the mornings and then goes to Pima in the afternoons. It is working out so well. Anya loves her Aunt Shannon and they have a good time playing together. One day in August I'm at work and got a text from Shannon that says they found a new friend. It looked like this:
It was just a picture from her phone and I assumed it was a neighbor's cat hanging out on our back porch. When I got home I about had a heart attack when I saw the rest of the pictures.
Look at the size of that thing!

Laurie Notaro book reading
My friend Ann introduced me to Laurie Notaro's books several years ago. They are HILARIOUS. If you need a laugh, I highly recommend her. She happens to be originally from Phoenix so when she goes on book tours she always has a reading there. The first picture is from July 2008 and the second one from this past July. I like how Ann and I have swapped hair colors. :)
